Ameen: Nice, it’s a good school.

Sofia: I like it. It’s nice and modern.

Mariaa: It’s ok, it’s a good school.

13.         How different is it from your old school?

Ameen: It’s a lot different from my old school. Here, everything is so clean, especially the toilets. My old school was very dirty. We also didn’t have a canteen or a cafeteria in Yemen.

Sofia: It’s really different, it’s more modern than my old school. The education system is also different from what we have in Ukraine.

Mariaa: It’s very different. The buildings are bigger, the teachers are kinder, and what we learn is more important and interesting. Also, the people and the languages are different.

14.         What’s the most surprising element you’ve encountered in this school?

Ameen: There are a lot of extracurricular activities.

18.         What frustrates you at school?

Ameen: I’m not very good at French or English, but the teachers are always here to help us and support us.

Sofia: I don’t know. I think that my language skills are not high enough. But the people are very nice and very kind.

Mariaa: Maybe the long lessons. In my old school, a lesson was 45 minutes long, and now they are one hour and thirty minutes long.

19.         How are your teachers?

Ameen: They are very kind, and beautiful. They explain with a lot of details.

Sofia: They are very kind; they always help you and explain interesting stuff.

Mariaa: They are good, kind, and interesting. New people, new languages, new things.

20.         How is Luxembourg in general?

Ameen: The country is nice. And so rich and clean.

Mariaa: There is a lot of nature, I like it. It’s something new for me.

21.         How different is it from the place you used to live?

Ameen: Well, Yemen is a big country, Luxembourg is much smaller. This place is so clean, and the government is very nice. And also, there is no war. That’s it.

Sofia: It’s quite different because Ukraine is very big, and Luxembourg is so small. Also, I lived in a city with a lot of modern and high buildings. Here in Clervaux they are very old, but you can also find a lot of parks and forests.

Mariaa: It’s really different because here, people are mostly living in houses and in my old city people were living in flats. We also don’t have this nature, it’s really beautiful.

Ameen: We are currently learning Luxembourgish. It’s quite hard.

Sofia: No, not yet.

Mariaa: I only know a few words.

23.         Have you visited some places since you’ve arrived?

Ameen: Yes. I went to Luxembourg city, the castle here in Clervaux, and also the museum with the exposition Family of Man.

Sofia: Yes, I visited Vianden, Clervaux, Luxembourg and Echternach.

Mariaa: I currently live in Wiltz and visited Clervaux before coming to school here.

24.         Do you plan to stay here?

Ameen: No, because I want to go to Japan as I love technology.

Sofia: It depends on the situation. Because of the war, we cannot know what is going to happen tomorrow. So, it’s very hard to answer.

Mariaa: I’m not sure. I don’t know my future yet. Now, I’m here and I never thought before that I would be here some day.
